Hyundai Ioniq 9 comes with 620km range and aggressive performance, launch soon

Hyundai has taken the wraps off its flagship 7-seater electric SUV, the Ioniq 9 at the Auto Expo 2025 in New Delhi, marking its first appearance in India. This three-row SUV is the latest addition to Hyundai’s growing born-electric lineup, joining models like the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6. Built on the versatile E-GMP skateboard platform also shared with the Kia EV6, Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and Kia EV9 the Ioniq 9 is Hyundai’s largest electric SUV, stretching 5,060mm in length, which is 45mm longer than the Kia EV9, making it more premium.

Despite its imposing size, the Ioniq 9 boasts a sleek, aerodynamic design, featuring a rounded front end and an upright tailgate. Its LED headlights incorporate Hyundai’s signature Parametric Pixel design, similar to the Ioniq 5 but in a slimmer form. At the rear, the SUV sports combination tail-lights, while standard 19″ wheels and flared wheel arches add to its muscular stance. Customers can personalize their Ioniq 9 with a choice of 16 exterior colors and seven interior themes.

The SUV offers both 6 and 7 seater configurations, with luxury and comfort taking center stage. The first two rows come with massaging seats, while the second row has a unique swivel function that allows passengers to face the third row when the vehicle is stationary. Other premium features include a panoramic sunroof, a panoramic curved display combining a 12″ infotainment display and a 12″ digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, roof mounted air vents, multi-zone climate control, 100W USB-C charging ports in all three rows, and an 8-speaker sound system by Bose.

Designed from the ground up as an EV, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 features an open center console with abundant smart storage options. Below the main touchscreen, a sleek band of controls manages climate and other functions, while cleverly hidden AC vents stretch across the dashboard for a seamless look. Powering the SUV is a massive 110.3kWh battery pack, delivering an impressive WLTP range of up to 620 kilometers. With support for 350kW ultra-fast charging, the Ioniq 9 can go from 10% to 80% battery in just 24 minutes which is pretty insane. It also offers both 400V and 800V charging capabilities and includes a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature that lets users power external electrical devices directly from the car.

The Ioniq 9 comes in two variants: Long Range and Performance. The long range variant features a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup with a 218hp motor delivering 350Nm of torque, while the LR AWD version adds a second motor up front, producing an additional 95hp and 255Nm of torque. The top-spec Performance model packs a punch with 218 horsepower motors on both the front and rear axles.

In its most powerful form, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 200km/h. It’s not just about speed, though the SUV also comes equipped with dynamic torque vectoring, lateral wind stability control, and an advanced Terrain Traction Control system. The Auto Terrain Mode, powered by artificial intelligence, adapts the SUV’s performance based on road conditions, ensuring a smooth and capable drive in various environments.

With cutting edge technology, impressive range, and a luxurious cabin, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 is set to redefine what an electric SUV can be. As Hyundai expands its EV footprint in India, this flagship model is poised to attract buyers looking for a blend of performance, innovation, and sustainability.
